One of three brothers to serve in the Great War. John Atkinson was also to die of his wounds whilst Thomas lost both his legs but did at least return to blighty. Cared for and appreciated by those in his home town of Kirby Lonsdale. My Grandfather, their younger brother was spared the horror.
