Richard Horace Adcock was my grandma's brother. He and his older brother Tommy both signed up with the North Staffs at the beginning of the war, although we think Tommy was a regular soldier prior to 1914. From what I know of them from my gran they were tall, redhaired men with a mischievous sense of humour. They were fond of their little sister and I have postcards sent from the front saying"love to little Lizzy". Horace was killed in April 1918 and Tommy in September 1918. Tommy had a photo of his sweetheart Daisy, in his breast pocket when he died, which was returned to the family. To me this is the most poignant remembrance we have, it still has his blood on it. I'm so proud to be related to these brave men and I know my gran would be proud that they are commemorated in this way. Thankyou to them for our future.
