Jack Grenville Moore was at St Bees School the Foundation 1913-15. He was very useful at all games and a tower of strength on occasions to House Junior Cricket and Football teams, and a runner of considerable promise in the Sports. In 1915 he joined the Artists’ Rifles for eighteen months, till he was old enough for a commission. In 1916 he joined the RAF and got his wings in June 1917. He was twice over in France, where he did useful scouting work, and latterly was acting as instructor at a Flying school in Lincolnshire (Scampton) until he was accidentally killed on April 2, 1918.
