1918 April 22 Aveluy Wood 113 Inf. Brigade Attack. At Zero 7.30 p.m. “C & D” Coys moved forward in three waves, “B” Coy occupied line vacated, Batt. H.Q. and “A” Coy remained stationary. The enemy put down barrage very quickly near our front line which with their machine gun barrage caused heavy casualties. Both companies and the 16th R.W.F. on the right held up about 150yards in front of original line. Liaison was established with 19th D.L.I. on the left. 2nd Lieut. J. Huxley was killed, Lieut. J.G. Webb, M.C., 2nd Lieut. J.O. Richards and Cpl Elias Jones, D.C.M., M.M. and bar, died of wounds. The casualties amongst other ranks were 5 killed, 14 missing and 95 wounded.
