To a soldier of the Great War. I did not know you but I would have liked to know you. We could be related somewhere as we share the same surname. My paternal grandfather, John Elson Carpenter, served with the Somerset Light Infantry and lost his life in Northern France on 23/03/1918. You nobly gave your life so that future generations could live theirs. You gave your life at such a young age;your life had hardly begun. We owe you a great debt of gratitude which we will never be able to repay. THANKYOU. "At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."
