From the war diaries of the 14th Bn RWF written by Major Jesse Williams DSO: June 4 1916 At 10.45pm a strong raiding party under Capt. H P Williams Lieut. A Lloyd Jones and 2nd Lieut. H L Brock went out. Raiding party discovered enemy front line trench practically deserted and was subjected to very heavy fire from a support trench only 15 yards away. Raiding party found this dugout full of Germans and bombed this and the support trench. Our casualties were: Capt H P Williams missing Lieut. A Lloyd Jones wounded 2nd Lieut. H L Brock slightly wounded 2 men killed 5 men missing (probably killed) 24 men wounded Three search parties succeeded in bringing in the wounded. No trace could be found of the missing.
