My Grandfather's wife Jean, died at the end of the flu epidemic after nursing many people to health. His Daughter Esme and Son Jimmy grew up without parents, married and each had a family. There are 27 family members on Jimmy, my Father's side and at least 20 on Esme's side. The family has spread to the USA, UK but the majority are still in South Africa. This is what he died for so that his family would survive and live free and happy lives. Thank you Grandpa - my only regret is that I never knew you or my Grandmother and am trying to make up for that by giving our grandchildren memories of us that they will be able to treasure.
