John Dickenson Garbutt was married to Martha Howells on 15 May 1915 just 16 months before he was killed in the Battle of the Somme on 16 September 1916. He served with the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, service number 20062. His life is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
