George (b.1883) of Parkhead, Glasgow was the son of Robert and Elizabeth (nee Baird) Rodger. He was one of four children, his siblings being Agnes, William and Margaret. George married Elizabeth Ritchie. Together they had 7 children, 3 of whom died in infancy. May, Margaret, Robert and Elizabeth were their surviving children. Margaret had two children, Robert and Ronald. Elizabeth (Betty) married Colin Hay and had two children, Colin and (Elizabeth) Linda. George served as a Corporal with the Royal Scots, his duty location being France and Flanders. George was killed in action, possibly at the 3rd Battle of Ypres/Passchendaele, on 22nd October 1917.  He was 34 years old.
