Killed at Hellfire corner in the preparations for Passchendaele. He was 33 yrs old and 36 yrs when he was killed. 

A blacksmith by trade. His younger brother Peter joined him later in the war when he was old enough but  took a shoulder injury and was dismissed as no longer fit for service. Sadly Peter died at the tender age of 22 in 1919 from the flu epidemic that swept the world after the war.  John ( known to his family as 'Jack' ) has no known grave and is remembered on the Menin Gate (panel 40), They are not forgotten.
