28073 Cecil Watts was a private in 1st Battalion, East Surrey Regiment. 5th Regular Division.  He died of wounds at Wimereux 18th October 1917. Aged 24.

Wimereux was a large casualty clearing station near the coast where casualties from  the battlefield went before being shipped back for hospitalisation in England. Many did not get home.

Cecil was the son of Richard & Eliza Watts of 3, Circus Street, Brighton and husband of Florence Watts of 23, Windsor Buildings, Brighton.

Cecil was born and enlisted in Brighton and is listed in St. Peter’s Memorial Book.

he is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery.
