The sepia photograph of Harry's grave at Hooge Crater had lain forgotten in a drawer for many years until I discovered it one day way back when I was a boy. Years later I found it again and this was the start of many visits to France and Flanders with my dad. During our first visit to Hooge in 1994, my dad took a small bag of soil from the garden of Ivy Cottage in Hanborough where Harry lived and together on a spring evening, in the rain, we spread the soil on the grave. We visited many times over the following years, and when my dad passed away in 2006 I returned to Hooge without him. The most peaceful of places, a place where I shall always feel the presence of uncle and nephew together.
