Ernest Every Wyatt Granger worked for the London and Lancashire Life and General Assurance Association. He enlisted in the 28th Battalion County of London Regiment in August 1914 and was commissioned into the Lancashire Fusiliers 2nd/9th Battalion. He was wounded three times on active service and was killed in action in Belgium. His commanding officer wrote: “his loss is an irreplaceable one to the regiment, as he was very popular with both officers and men, and known as a very gallant and efficient soldier." He resigned from his post with the association during the war. He was 24.
