Great Uncle George went off to war when my mother was 10 weeks old and suffering from pneumonia. His comment to my mother's parents was that when he returned this poor little girl would no longer be with us. George was killed in action 17 September 1917 and my mother lived to be almost 99 years of age. 

It is a sad story for the loss of George but a happy one in respect of Mum.

Both are dearly missed.
