Harold wrote home a letter from Hell Fire Corner near Ypres in 1916 stating in graphical details how he very nearly lost his life there. Shells and bullets missed him by a miracle and he spent two nights un mud with no food or drink. He survived Ypres on to be sent to the Somme where he so very sadly lost his life.
