This is Harold Blakey, born 10/11/1897 In Huddersfield Son of my Great Grandparents Joe Smith Blakey and Mary Ellen Blakey (Nee Parkin), brother to my granddad Philip, my Great uncle, a man whom my dad was named after.
Educated at Hillhouse council school, Huddersfield. Employed as a joiners apprentice before enlisting.
He enlisted 15/1/1915, army no 204537 and joined the war in 14/04/1915. He died at Passchendaele, Belgium 6th October 1917 and is buried at Tyne Cot war cemetery. He was 19, dying a month before his 20th birthday.

He is commemorated at St Hildas church, Cowcliffe, Christ church, Woodhouse
and at Fartown & Birkby war memorial, Norman park, Birkby, Huddersfield.
