Alfred Lowes went to France on 6th October 1915 serving until his death on 15th September 1916.
He died of wounds at 21 Casualty Clearing station La Neuville.

9th September 1916 : Guillemont sector.
12th September 1916 : Attack on The Quadrilateral (in support).
13th September 1916 : Happy Valley.
14th September 1916 : Carnoy / Trônes Wood.
15th and 16th September : Attacks towards Lesboeufs
Alfred Lowes was wounded during one of these actions at the Somme, taken to 21 CCS where he died on 15th September 1916.
