He was born c1891 and was baptised 1 February 1891  at St John Croydon. The family were living at 7 Borough Hill, Croydon.

 From the Kentish Mercury 20 April 1917. He enlisted in 1914 and was in France twice. His brother Godfrey Alan has been discharged from the army as being totally disabled on the Somme.

He was 5ft 7 inches tall and weighed 146lbs. he had blue eyes and a fresh complexion.

He was wounded on 14 April 1917.

Amongst his belongings were a cigarette case, photo case, watch and photos.

 In 1911 he is living at (11b) 2 Lewisham Bridge Lewisham with his parents William and Emily. He has 2 brothers Godfrey Alan and William Raven and a sister Henreitta.1 of his siblings has already died. He is employed in his fathers’ hosier and hatters business.

 In 1901 he is living at 11, Loampit Vale, Lewisham with his parents and brother Godfrey and sister Henrietta.
