He was born c1895 in Lee.

He first enlisted in 27 June 1913. He gave his address as 32 Boones Road, Lee. He was employed as a green grocers assistant.

He was 5ft 5 inches tall and weighed 126lbs. he had blue eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion. He had a tattoo of a female on his right forearm.

 In 1911 he is living at 32 Boones Road Lee with his father Thomas and brother Robert and sisters Alice and Dora. He is employed as an assistant at a nurseryman’s works.

 In 1901 he is living at Victoria Houses, 1, Lee with his parents Thomas and Emma. He has 3 brothers Thomas, Frederick and Robert and 2 sisters Alice and Dora.
