Edward Dannett Asbury was the son of Dannett and Isabel Sarah Asbury. Posted to 49 Squadron, he downed his first enemy aeroplane, an Albatros DV, on 10 Jun 1918 at 05:00 hrs in a D.H.9 (C6140) over Assainvillers. He scored four further victories during in the summer of 1918. His final victory was at 19:00 hrs on 25 Aug 1918 when he downed a Fokker D.VII over Bourlon Wood. On 24 September 1918 Edward Dannett Asbury was flying DH9 (E8869), along with his observer, 2/Lt B.T. Gillman. They were reported missing from operations on Aulnoye. Last seen in combat west Forêt de Mormal, France, both men were sadly both killed. Their names are commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
