James Scott, Drummer no. 9526, 1st Bn. KOSB. Commemorated at Helles Memorial, Turkey. He died of wounds on board the hospital ship 'Somali' on 6th June 1915 aged about 30. He was a son of Colour Sergeant Robert Scott of the Scottish Rifles, 18 Trinity Street, Hawick. James was born in Maryhill but enlisted and lived in Hawick. His brother, Thomas, also served with the 1st Bn. KOSB at Gallipoli and was wounded there, whilst another brother, Edward, served at Gallipoli with the Royal Marines before being invalided home. James is listed by the CWGC as John Leitch Mitchell.
