Alec Edward Parker worked for the Sun Life Insurance Society as an inspector in the Birmingham office. He started work for the company in May 1910 and enlisted as a Private in the Royal Army Medical Corps in September 1915. He served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders between August and December 1916 when he was invalided home with trench fever. On 3rd May 1917 he set sail on the SS Transylvania and was drowned when the ship was torpedoed the following day in the Mediterranean. He was 31.
