His brother, Gilbert Fincher Gibbs, aged 25, was an insurance cerk in the Manchester branch of Norwich Union and died three days after Archibald. His father, an insurance broker who was probably an agent for the Norwich Union, wrote to the company: "The kindness of our friends has been a very real solace to us in our grief, coupled with the knowledge that our boys were so well thought of and that they so willingly offered their services to their country in the hour of need."
