Since writing the earlier profile, I found out that the steamship Dunbarmoor was intercepted by a German submarine 180 miles W.N.W. of Fastnet, Ireland, on March 8th, 1917. The submarine opened fire from the surface and sank the vessel with shells. Twelve of her crew, including the captain, and first mate (my great grandfather) were killed.
