John Livingston Bennett, second son and 9th child of Hugh and Agnes Bennett, was born on January 14, 1893, near Roseberry Victoria. 

The family moved to Western Australia around 1903. First to Northam, than to Cow cowing,  John would have been about 6 years of age so most of his schooling and young adult life would have been spent in W.A

He volunteered and signed up with  the Australian Imperial Forces at Northam W.A. Military Office on 14th April 1915.

He embarked from Freemantle with the 11th Infantry Battalion- 15th Reinforcements and boarded  HMAT Ulyssess for France on April 1st 1916, rank Private. 

John Livingston Bennett was killed in action August 15th 1915 at Mancourt France.  Rank of Corporal.  His body was never recovered.  Service No 4732.

A Cemetery memorial to John is recorded at Villers-Bretonneux Somme France.
