William Hicks was the youngest in his family.  He had red hair and freckles.   His eldest brother Alfred was killed in Rouen a few month's before.  His brother Ernest was killed in 1918 and his brother Frederick died of war wounds in 1920.   His sister Agnes lost 4 brothers to the war and her husband who was killed in Egypt in 1917.    She never complained and was a wonderful lady.
