Scott Thompson born 6 October 1881 son of James and Mary Jane Thompson of Lisnafillon, Gracehill, Ballymena, Co Antrim.  He enlisted in 12th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles and served with the Expeditionary Force in France where he was wounded.  After recovering he returned to the front where he was killed in the vicinity of Somme Farm at the Battle of Langemarck on 16 August 1917.  He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial (Panel 140).  He is also commemorated on his father's headstone in Gracehill Moravian Burial Ground along with his younger brother Charles Magee Thompson who died on 9 July 1917.
