George was married with 4 children. He was a farm labourer and later turned to bricklaying. He seems to have been a strong man as he passed the medical required and joined the Durhams. In June 1918 his wife was informed that he was missing and he was not found.

He had 4 younger brothers in the Army, all fighting in different area of the World.
