Citation for the 'Military Medal' (MM) awarded to Lance Corporal Harry W. Minnis.
Extract from the Fourth Supplement to the 'London Gazette' - dated 16 August 1917.
HONOURS AND AWARDS
His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Military Medal to the under-mentioned Non-Commissioned Officer for Bravery in the Field:
The Citation for Lance Corporal Harry W. Minnis's Military Medal read:
"During the attack on Messines (Belgium) on 7 June 1917 this N.C.O did splendid work in laying out wire and maintaining communications to Advance Brigade Headquarters and to the Battalion on our right. We had many breaks and in all cases without hesitation he (Lance Corporal Minnis) - with Private Messenger - went out and mended them. Most times under heavy shell fire from the enemy. And it was mostly due to Lance Corporal Minnis that good communication was kept up".
