Harry Sayers was born in Penge Surrey and was a Soldier in England, somehow and we do not know why he went to Canada with his wife and was with the Canadian Infantry 49th Battalion. He was 35 years old when he gave his life for his country leaving a widow and brothers and sister in England to mourn him. In my very young years when visiting my Grandparents I was always in awe of a large picture on the wall of a soldier and was never told who this was, I now believe it was a picture of Harry which his brother Charles hung in memory of him. After my Grandparents death the picture disappeared and was never seen again. It is my ambition to be the very first member of his family to visit his memorial and hope to do this on the 100th anniversary of his death. From a large family there are so few left now that feel I will do this for all of them.
