Ernest Scully enlisted for war service - on 17 January 1916 - at Trentham Military Training Camp, Wellington Region, North Island, New Zealand. He was 27 years of age.
On 6 May 1916 Private Scully left New Zealand for overseas war service - with the 3rd Reinforcements NZEF - aboard HMNZ T53 'Navua' - from Port of Wellington, North Island, New Zealand.
Private Scully disembarked from his transport ship from New Zealand - on 22 June 1916 - at Suez, Egypt.
On 26 July 1916 Private Scully left Alexandria, Egypt - aboard HT 'Ivernia' - for active war service - at France & Belgium.
On 7 August 1916 Private Scully disembarked from his transport ship from Egypt - at Southampton, England.
Two weeks later - on 20 August 1916 - Private Scully left England for active war service - at France & Belgium.
On 4 September 1916 Private Scully was posted to the New Zealand Maori Pioneer Battalion - at France. At the same time he was posted to the 12th (Nelson) Company.
Private Ernest C. Scully served at France & Belgium until he was wounded in action - on 6 June 1917 - at France. The same day he was admitted to the 1st (Australian) Casualty Clearing Station - in the field, at France.
Private Ernest C. Scully died of wounds - on 6 June 1917 - at the No 1 (Australian) Casualty Clearing Station - in the field, at France.
