Frank was born in 1885 in *****tone, son of Henry and Elizabeth Peace. In 1891 the family were living at 6 Dobbin Gaps, *****tone. Henry, a labourer in the steelworks was born in *****tone, but his wife came from Boston, Lincolnshire. In 1901 she was living at 2 Victoria St, 'married' but as head of household and her birthplace is recorded as *****tone. Ten years later she was living with a married daughter Mary Ellen, and her husband Arthur, together with their children, including one called Beatrice, aged 10, at 20 Victoria Street. In each instance Frank was living with her. In 1911 his occupation is given as Boiler Firer, Saw Mills. Frank enlisted at *****tone on 9th September 1914, in the 12th Btn Y&L (The Sheffield Pals) aged 29 years and 6 months, 5ft 8½ ins tall, weight 144lbs. He served in England until being posted to France on 5th April 1916.
He was killed on the 1st July 1916, one of 248 members of the Sheffield City Battalion to die that day, many of whom were not identified.
