Oscar Lennox McMaking was born in Brazil in 1894. He was my Grandfather's brother (the family lived in Brazil as Great Grandfather was a railway engineer) Oscar flew Sopworth Camels, was a flying ace and had 6 victories. He died in the line of duty on September 11th 1917, aged just 23 in Langemark, Belgium. Oscar was shot down in flames, the penultimate victim of a Werner Voss. We have always looked up to Oscar (both physically and with gratitude and pride) His portrait was hung with pride in Grandma's house and now ours. My son, Oscar William George Flatt born in 2013, was named in Oscar's honour and we remember him today and his comrades with such enormous gratitude and respect. With love to all you brave Men and Women X
