Canada has come together this date to gather across the nation, one and all, to reflect on the many sacrifices that you, your comrades and families endured. You - Leaving home, as a new and proud Canadian soldier - training for battle and going to a far off land to engage in the Great War. You - paying the ultimate sacrifice at Passchendaele. Your family and the families of so many - Suffering the loss of a loved one, not returning home.

I can see you working hard around the farm, doing the chores, helping out and taking some time to fish in the nearby river and always smiling as you returned home with the days catch. I can see you walking to the train station with the other lads and preparing to board ... all with smiles and waving to family and friends. You are now part of a larger family, The Canadian Corps - heading into an uncertain future....

It was during the battle of Passchendaele that Roger was hit by a bullet 26th of October, he survived the initial hit but succumbed to the wounds later on the 27th of October, 1917 at the age of 21. We will always remember !
