Arthur was a compositer at OUP and had 5 children.  My father was only three years old when his father died.  My grandmother was left alone to bring up those five children. The platoon set out on a mission on the night of 15th May and never returned.  Arthur was reported missing in action, but it was many months before Beatrice received the dreaded letter confirming that Arthur would not be coming back.  Owing largely to the support of the local community and schools the children prospered but, worn, out, Beatrice died in the early 1930s.
