Cpl. James Hegarty

"Corporal James Hegarty, 1st Leinster's, was killed in action on the 4th inst. He was a reservist, and was called up last August. After being wounded at Armentieres he was invalided home. He resided in Barrhead for a few weeks. On his return to the fighting line he was only engaged five days before he met his death. Previous to joining the colours he was employed in Tubal Foundry, Barrhead." :
The Barrhead news reported BARRHEAD SOLDIER KILLED
"Official Intimation has been received of the death of Corp James Hegarty of the 1st leinster’s who was killed in action on the 4th inst. Corporal Hegarty was a reservist and was called up last August. He was wounded at Armentierers, and was invalided had resided in Barrhead for some weeks, spending some time later with relatives In Ireland before returning to France. he was only five days in the fighting when he was killed, Before the war the deceased was employed in Tubal works Barrhead Renfrewshire Scotland."
