I have no direct knowledge of William Hammerton, but my mother was a Hammerton from the Twickenham area, and he was a Waterman which was the family trade. It seems only right that everyone who gave so much should be commemorated, and if - as seems possible - I am a distant relative and able to do just a little to preserve his memory. I consider a privilege to do so.
