Stuart McPherson was born in Edinburgh, Midlothian. Aged almost 23, he signed up as a private with the 10th Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders on 7th September 1914. Just over a year later on 26th October 1915, he died of wounds in Mons, Dordogne, France. He had just turned 24. His four brothers returned safely.
