William John Williams was appointed to the staff of the Union Assurance Society's North London branch in June 1914. He volunteered in June 1915 initially as Private in Royal Field Artillery. From March 1916 he was on active service in France where he was killed in action while serving as a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery, A Battery 282nd Brigade. He was 19.
