James Doel was born in 1891 in Cheam, the son of William (b.1859) a General Labourer and Rosina (b.1859)

They lived at 12 Drayton Villas, Longfellow Rd, Worcester Park. James’s siblings were, Walter b.1881, Beatrice b.1889, Edwin b.1895, Robert George Albert b.1897, Edith b.1899 and Frederick b.1904.

It is quite possible that James married Minnie E Bamping in 1915 but this has not been confirmed.

His brother Robert George Albert was also killed in action on the 3rd July 1916.

James's name appears on the War Memorial in Worcester Park and this entry has been completed on behalf of The Royal British Legion Worcester Park Branch.
