William was our Great Grandfather. His daughter, Emily Victoria was our Grandmother and was married to Ernest Percy Hale who served and was wounded in the Great War. When William died in January 1917 he left his wife and six children. When my father and I visited his grave for the first time we were the first members of the family to have done so. It has been difficult to find the exact circumstances of his death but it is believed that he died as a result of an accident involving horse drawn transport.
