I do not know this young man, but I chose to commemorate him for a number of reasons. He lived in Bellevue Street, Belfast, BT13 - in the same area where my mother grew up with her brothers and sisters in the late 1950s. The Shankill Road area lost a huge number of men in World War 1 and they are commemorated in a Garden of Remembrance in Shankill Graveyard. Also, Lance Serjeant John Brown has the same name as my husband. The pain of losing such a young son, brother, husband or friend is hard to imagine. I was able to find some photographs of his grave, which I have been able to upload. Thank you to Lance Serjeant John Brown. I commemorate you.
