I don't know much about Stanley but his brother Harold John MacBeth worked in the head office of the Commercial Union Assurance Company Ltd in London which is part of the company I work for. The brothers were both killed on the same day and in the same attack on High Wood in the Somme. Stanley had been in France for only 12 days. They are both buried in Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, in the same row, just two graves apart.
