Son of Henry & Harriet Chapman of Motueka, Tasman District, South Island, New Zealand.

Prior to enlistment for war service Keith Chapman was a Farm Hand at Motueka, Tasman District.

Keith Chapman enlisted for war service - on 23 July 1917 - at Nelson, South Island, New Zealand.

At enlistment Keith Chapman was posted as a Private with the Otago Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, 30th Reinforcements, NZEF.

On 13 October 1917 Private Keith Chapman left New Zealand for overseas war service - with the 30th Reinforcements NZEF - aboard HMNZT 93 "Corinthic" - from Port of Wellington, North Island, New Zealand.

Private Keith E. Chapman served at France & Belgium 1917-1918.

On 3 July 1918 Private Keith E. Chapman died of wounds - received in action at The Somme, France - at the East Lancashire Field Ambulance - in the field, Somme, France.

At his death Private Keith Chapman was 21 years of age.

Private Keith E. Chapman is buried at Bertrancourt Military Cemetery, Somme, France (Ref: Plot 2, Row E, Grave 9).
