Sergeant Oscar Edward CEDERMAN (1887-1917).

Service # 3525: Sergeant, Otago Infantry Regiemnt, 2nd Battalion, 9th Reinforcements, New Zealand Expeditionary Forces (NZEF).

Born 11 October 1887 at Nelson, South Island, New Zealand.

Husband of Mrs D.N. Cederman of Riwaka, Tasman District.

Prior to enlistment for war service Oscar Cederman was an Auctioneer - at Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand.

Oscar Cederman enlisted for war service - on 20 October 1915 - at Trentham Military Training Camp, Wellington District, North Island, New Zealand. He was 27 years of age.

At enlistment Oscar Cederman was posted as a Private -  to the Otago Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion -  9th Reinforcements, NZEF.

On 8 January 1916 Private Cederman left New Zealand for oveseas war service - with the 9th Reinforcements, Main Body,  NZEF - aboard HMNZT "Maunganui" - from Port of Wellington, North Island, New Zealand.

Private Cederman disembarked at Suez, Egypt  - on 7 February 1916.

On 9 April 1916 Private Cederman left Egypt - for active war service in - France.

On 1 November 1916 Private Cederman was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.

On 15 March 1917 Lance Corporal Cederman was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

On 7 June 1917 Sergeant Oscar E. Cederman was killed in action - in the field - at Belgium.

Sergeant Oscar E. Cederman is buried at  St Quentin Cabaret Military Cemetery, Heuvelland, West Vlaanderen, Belgium (Ref: 11.N.21).
