Martin Persson enlisted for war service - on 19 January 1915 - at Trentham Military Training Camp, Wellington District, North Island, New Zealand.
At enlistment Martin Persson was posted as a Private with the Wellington Infantry Regiment, 4th Reinforcements, NZEF.
On 17 April 1915 Private Persson left New Zealand - with the 4th Reinforcements NZEF- aboard either HMNZT 21 "Willochra" or T22 "Knight Templar" or T23 "Waitomo" - from Port of Wellington, North Island, New Zealand.
On 9 June 1915 Private Persson joined his Battalion - the Welligton Infantry Regiment - in the field, at Gallipoli, Turkey.
Private Martin A. Persson was killed in action - on 8 August 1915 - at Chunuk Bair, Gallipoli, Turkey.
