Charles R James was born in Blandford Dorset on 26th October 1867. He died in service as a coastguard at Hope Cove, Devon of disease on 30th November 1915.aged  48. He was Petty Officer. His wife and 6 children  did not join him for this posting remaining in Camberley Surrey. He is commemorated on the War Memorial plaque in the parish church of Holy Trinity Galmpton Devon.
