James Christie worked in the Glasgow Head Office of the Scottish  Boiler Insurance and Engine Inspection Company Ltd.  He was a clerk in the engineering department and was killed fighting in the Dardanelles while serving as a Private in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 8th Battalion. The company paid his allowance to his mother for 6 months following his death. He was 20.
