Percy Harry Phipps was a clerk in the Workmen's Accident Department at the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society Ltd. He was a keen tennis player and footballer who played forward for the county and was described as a: "splendid all round sportsman." He had been with the company for 12 years when he enlisted in the Autumn of 1914 serving as a Lance Corporal in the Norfolk Regiment 1st\4th Battalion. He died of wounds received in the Dardanelles, he was 27.
