Dudley George Edmonds was appointed as a clerk at the London head office of The Guarantee Society Ltd. in 1912. He served as a Rifleman in the County of London Regiment 1st/18th Battalion and was sent to France in March 1915. He was killed on Christmas Eve 1915 by a mine explosion: "while engaged with a party of gallant comrades in advancing towards the enemy's trenches". According to the Post Magazine's Roll of Honour: "in his letters he frequently expressed the hope that he might again resume his office work, and the members of the staff much regret that this hope cannot be realised and feel keenly the loss of an esteemed and capable colleague." He was 23.
